Route 47 Taxi Transportation is seeking drivers to join our 24 hour, 7 day a week taxi and limousine transportation company. To apply in person, candidates must meet the following requirements:

I. Job Purpose/Objective

The primary purpose of the Driver is to drive passengers to and from the places they need to go, such as airports, homes, shopping centers, and workplaces. They must know their way around the service area in order to take both residents and visitors to their destinations. Conveys a high profile of the company and offers quality customer service.

II. Essential Job Responsibilities
Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:

  • Follow relevant safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensure that passengers follow safety regulations.

  • Complete Vehicle Inspection daily as directed by company to ensure cleanliness and proper operation.

  • Notify dispatchers or company mechanics of vehicle problems.

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as regulating tire pressure and adding gasoline, oil, and windshield washer fluid.

  • Vacuum and clean interiors, and wash and polish exteriors of automobiles.

  • Complete accident reports when necessary.

  • Report to company office or garage to pickup and return vehicles.

  • Drive taxicabs, limousines, company cars, or vans to transport passengers.

  • Arrange with Dispatch to pick up particular customers or groups on a regular schedule.

  • Communicate with dispatchers by telephone, or dispatching app to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.

  • Pick up passengers at prearranged locations, at taxi stands, or by cruising streets in high traffic areas.

  • Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicles, and help them with any luggage.

  • Determine fares based on trip distances and times, using taximeters and fee schedules, and announce fares to passengers.

  • Turn on the taximeter when passengers enter the cab, and turn off the taximeter when they reach the final destination.

  • Collect fares or vouchers from passengers and make change or issue receipts as necessary.

  • Record name, date, and vehicle identification information on Driver Log Sheets, along with trip information such as time and place of pickup and drop-off, and total fee.

  • Provide passengers with information about the local area and points of interest, or give advice on hotels and restaurants.

  • Operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts to transport and secure passengers with special needs.
