Route 47 Taxi Transportation is seeking dispatchers to join our 24 hour, 7 day a week taxi and limousine transportation company. Interested individuals should review the following job description:

I. Job Purpose/Objective
The primary purpose of the Dispatcher is to receive customers' requests for vehicles, and dispatch drivers to meet customers' transportation needs. Conveys a high profile of the company and offers quality customer service. This position requires control, multi-tasking, superior organizational skills, honesty, strong leadership, and an unbiased nature.
II. Essential Job Responsibilities
Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:

 • Conform and adhere to the rules set forth in the Dispatcher Policy
 • Answer all telephone calls • Accurately record all requests for vehicles, local and airports, into the company electronic dispatching system.
 • Receive requests for local taxi fares by telephone and fairly dispatch fares, via the company electronic dispatching system, to the next available cab or the vehicle that best meets the needs of the customers
 • Assist customers with their requests when they come into the office
 • Review all unassigned fares in the company electronic dispatching system during the daily shift and dispatch as appropriate • Complete daily Dispatcher Log Sheet • Limit the use of conversational language with drivers to speed dispatch
 • Assist drivers in answering questions and solving customer or vehicles problems
 • Monitor drivers to ensure optimal availability
 • Help train and counsel drivers on proper dispatch procedures
 • Administer special requests for car seats to ensure drivers and vehicles are properly equipped
 • Follow up on any complaints and accident reports to the Operations Manager
 • Some remote dispatch may be necessary
 • Maintains a clean work space and office environment, including restroom and kitchen.
 • Performs secondary duties as assigned or requested

III. Working Conditions/Physical Demands
 • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
 • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time
 • Standing, reaching, kneeling, use fingers and occasional lifting
 • Must be able to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers
 • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound
 • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and  figures; and viewing a computer terminal
 • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

 • Must dress professionally to meet customers in the office
 • Ability to speak English reasonably well
 • Ability to perform intermediate math functions
 • Ability to communicate clearly; enunciation, speaking loudly enough, upbeat tone

 • Must be proficient working with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and internet based applications
 • Must be proficient with searching for addresses and directions in mapping applications (Google Maps)
 • Must be able to sustain a high level of fair play, honesty and consistency

30-day probationary period for all new hires. Mandatory training is provided on the company policies, dispatcher operations, and technology. Compensation will be discussed during the interview.
